Yoga

Balance of body, breath, and mind.

What Is Yoga?

Yoga is a traditional practice originating in India that combines physical postures, mindful breathing, concentration, and relaxation. Its history dates back thousands of years, and today there are many different styles and approaches to the practice.

However, yoga is not just about flexibility or mastering challenging poses. Above all, it is about mindful movement, body awareness, and finding a balance between activity and relaxation.

During yoga practice, we work with yoga postures (asanas), connect movement with breath, and learn to focus on the present moment. Some poses develop strength and stability, while others help improve flexibility and release tension.

Relaxation is also an essential part of yoga, offering an opportunity to slow down, unwind, and take a break from everyday responsibilities.

What Are the Benefits of Regular Yoga Practice?

Improved flexibility and mobility – helps gradually increase your range of motion and release muscle tension.

Strength and stability – certain yoga poses strengthen muscles and support balance and good posture.

A calmer mind – combining movement, breathing, and concentration can help reduce stress and tension.

Better balance and coordination – develops conscious control of movement and body awareness.

Mindful breathing – encourages awareness of your breath and helps you use it naturally during movement and relaxation.

Mental well-being – offers an opportunity to slow down, relax, and recharge your energy.

What Can You Expect During a Class?

In our classes, we focus on stretching and gently moving the whole body, practising yoga poses, mindful breathing, and relaxation at the end of each session.

We alternate between more active and relaxing parts of the practice, paying attention to proper alignment and technique in each pose. Yoga is not a competition or about who can stretch the furthest. What matters most is respecting your body's abilities and finding movements that feel right for you.

Who Is Yoga Suitable For?

Yoga is suitable for everyone, including complete beginners. You don't need to be flexible or have any previous experience. Each pose can be adapted to your fitness level and individual abilities.

Please bring your own yoga mat, comfortable clothing, a towel, and something to drink.

Take some time for yourself, stretch your body, and leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind for a while.

Our instructor

Mgr. Veronika Jirsová

Veronika sees yoga primarily as meditation in motion. For her, it is an opportunity to slow down, take time for herself, and learn to be more present in everyday life.

She has completed a 150-hour Hatha and Power Yoga teacher training course accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, an eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme, and numerous yoga workshops. She has a particular interest in traditional Hatha yoga and yoga philosophy, as well as the principles of mindfulness, which she naturally integrates into both her personal practice and teaching.

In her classes, she emphasises connecting breath with movement, flowing transitions between poses, and respecting each individual's abilities. She believes that yoga is not about performing poses perfectly, but rather about experiencing movement, being aware of the breath, and giving ourselves our full attention.
