Qi Gong

What Is Qi Gong?

Qi gong is a traditional Chinese practice with a long history that combines movement, mindful breathing, and concentration. It is rooted in the traditional Chinese concept of working with vital energy, known as qi, and aims to cultivate harmony between body and mind.

The most important aspects are awareness of your body and breath, releasing tension, and learning to slow down and be present in the moment.

Dynamic and Static Qi Gong

Qi gong encompasses many different styles and schools. Broadly speaking, we can distinguish between two main forms:

Dynamic Qi Gong (Dong Gong)

This form involves gentle, flowing, and mindful movements, often performed in slow, coordinated sequences. It helps develop coordination, balance, mobility, and the connection between breathing and movement.

Static Qi Gong (Jing Gong)

This form focuses primarily on inner calm, awareness, and breathing. It is practised with little or no external movement, for example, while standing, sitting, or lying down. It may include meditation, conscious relaxation, and focused awareness of the body.

Both forms can complement each other – movement helps release physical tension, while static practice creates space for deeper concentration and relaxation.

In our classes, we mainly practise standing exercises, wearing comfortable clothing and shoes or socks. No exercise mat is required.

Take a moment for yourself. Come and discover how even gentle movement can help you develop greater body awareness and enjoy a sense of relaxation.

What Are the Benefits of Regular Practice?

A calmer mind – helps reduce stress, tension, and the pressures of everyday life.

Physical relaxation – supports natural mobility and helps release muscle tension.

Better balance and coordination – develops stability and conscious body awareness.

Mindful breathing and concentration – encourages you to focus on the present moment.

Mental well-being and vitality – offers an opportunity to slow down, relax, and recharge your energy.

Who Is Qi Gong Suitable For?

Qi gong is suitable for everyone, including complete beginners. The exercises can be adapted to individual abilities, and no previous experience is required.
